christine's blog...: valentine's day

ah, valentine's day. i know some people think it's just a marketing ploy or a corporate invention where we eat extra calories from sweets and spend unnecessary money. but you know what, i love it. i like buying valentine cards, school parties, decorating my house with tchotchke valentines stuff. i'm cheesy like that. and i seem to be getting cheesier and cheesier as i get older. :) unfortunately, jimmy was out of town for work on valentine's day. but that's okay. i had my two little turkeys to celebrate with... and there's never a dull moment with them. :)

jimmy bought the girls an early valentine's gift from us to them. he didn't even tell me what he/"we" got them. he wanted it to be a surprise for me as well, i guess. well, one day UPS dropped off this huge box at the front door. i was thinking, what in the world is in there?? well, we opened it (before he went out of town) and this is what we got for them.... their favorite sesame street characters! a very sweet and thoughtful gesture on his part for sure! but in my head, i'm thinking, "oh great, another HUGE toy to take over my family room which is already overrun with toys. and here i am trying to downsize our toys! sorry, abby cadabby and cookie monster but you guys are going straight to the basement!" hehe

and i took the girls to a valentine's party at gymboree. it was pretty fun. it was more geared for kids ellie's age. but it was open to all ages, so i could bring addison... which was nice to do something with both kids. it was like a typical gymboree class... they played, made some crafts, danced to music, did the parachute thing. it was a fun thing to do. they both had a blast. actually, the last time addison was here she was ellie's age. and now here she is 3 1/2 years later with kid sister in tow. :)
