ellie peyton (eun be) kim is born!

at 37 weeks of my pregnancy, just like with my first pregnancy, our 2nd daughter was born! my water broke at around 3:45pm while i was napping. i had been prepping for this moment for weeks, but it was still so startling! i was thinking to myself, "oh boy, this is it!!" addison was still taking her afternoon nap. i called jimmy after making sure that it was indeed my water that broke. he was an hour and a half away. and his mom is over an hour away too. i talked to my doctor's office and they said i could wait for them to get here before heading to the hospital unless i was having painful contractions (which i wasn't at the time). so addison got up from her nap and i told her we're having the baby TODAY. she cheered and was excited. :) i tried to remain calm and quickly tried to get everything ready for her grandma to watch her, clean the house, and get my bag for the hospital ready. it was such a crazy feeling... like my life is totally going to change within the next several hours! everyone got here and then jimmy and i were on our way!

we got to the hospital at around 5:45-6pm. and they said i was to have my c-section at 8pm. my mom took a flight from st. louis and was getting in later that night. within those two hours, they got me ready for surgery. the contractions were coming on stronger. 8pm comes around in no time and they wheel me into the operating room. everything was happening so fast! it was such a smooth experience compared to the first time for me. everyone at the hospital was great. within a half an hour, ellie was born! i was so delirious and tired when i had addison that i could barely keep my eyes open. but this time, since i didn't have to do all that pushing and i was having her at a normal hour of the day, i was feeling great. i was more in the moment and it was so much more enjoyable. she came out and made her first cry... i just teared up with joy. it was amazing.

the hospital stay was fine, but i was eager to get home and recover. addison and the grandmas and grandpa came to visit the next morning. i was so happy to see addie. i've been a little emotional about addie. this whole time for the past 3 1/2 years, it's just been her and me. she's been my little buddy.. we do everything together. i knew all that would change. i know in a good way, but i was still a little sad for her and for me... especially, when addison cried and said she missed me when she had to go home without me from the hospital. :*(

so now it's been a week since we've been home. i'm slowly recovering... my legs, ankles and feet are still swollen from the surgery and the pregnancy and my incision is still a little sore but healing. ellie is a good baby... just eats and sleeps for now. she had some issues with jaundice but that's getting better. addison is doing great with the huge help of grandma and my sister being here. it's been pretty manageable so far.. hopefully, it will continue to be! i can't believe we're a family of four now! it's crazy and exciting. jimmy and i talk about all the fun things we'll do with the girls in the future....
it's just the beginning!

Awww, Christine! That's awesome!!! It sounds like you had a great delivery. :) I know what you mean about it just being "you and your buddy," for so long, and now you were changing the family dynamic. But you are so right! It's in a good way!!! :) Congrats again to you and your whole family. Ellie is beautiful just like Addison and Mommy!

Oh, i'm overwhelmed with joy! Addie is such a trooper and Ellie is the cutest thing I've ever seen! Having two girls is so much fun. we dominate the household with estrogen. can't wait until all the girls are older so we can go to Disneyland again!
