first day of kindergarten!!!!

man, this summer just flew by!! why is it that the older i become, the faster time flies??? i hate that! i can't believe summer is over and the new school year has already started. this school year was a big one for us. addison officially started kindergarten! i seriously can't believe she is school-age and old enough to ride a bus to school and purchase lunch in a cafeteria! i freak out everytime i think about it.

anyway, up until she went to her first day at school, i had not really thought about it in detail. we had our home up for sale over the summer so basically that had consumed me more than anything. kindergarten and elementary school were further back in my brain. i was stressed about showing our home and making it spotless and not cooking any korean food so the place doesn't stink like garlic.

but then the day was approaching.... and i knew i had to get ready for it.... whether we were living here or somewhere else... addison was starting school...real school. i bought her her first backpack. pink was the only option for her, according to her. but i got it monogrammed... because i have this weird obsesssion with monogramming. don't ask. then i got her her first day of school outfit... i spent a ridiculous amount for an outfit for a 5 yr old going somewhere for a few hours. and then i planned the babysitter to come and watch ellie while i took addie to school. they wanted us (the parents) to stay a little longer there for the first day. anyway, after i dropped her off, my sister and i went to grab breakfast nearby. that's when it all hit me. i cried a little at breakfast... i couldn't believe that my first-born was growing up. how badly i wanted her to grow up and get beyond the infant stage, and then the terrible-two's stage, and the naughty-three's stage (i made that stage up. hehe). but it is now that i wish i could make time stand still and have her remain an innocent little girl forever. but of course, that doesn't happen. and now it's time for me to grow with her (and ellie) and move on to the next stage in our lives and learn more. i suppose this is just a nice reminder of how amazing it is to have children and to embrace all the good with the bad. because it goes by so fast...

so here are pics from that day.

our big girl!
