it's spring time and dance studios all over are putting on their annual recitals. addison's dance place is no different. i wasn't really aware when i signed her up back in the fall that her place puts on quite a production at the end of the year. dance has always been an important part of my growing years and something i've always had a huge love for. so i have always known that i wanted to get our girls into it...but i did not sign her up with the intention of her (or me as a dance parent) being really serious with dance.. yet, at least. :) but after 9 months of wednesday afternoon classes, $60 spent on a costume, $120 for recital fees, dress rehearsal, and just coming home from 2 1/2 hours (and that was just the first half) of a pretty impressive recital, this was no joke!! but it has been totally fun!! the recital was really good and it was personally so fun and inspiring and nostalgic for me to watch all the dancers! some of the older ones were really good! i loved it! and of course, it was so awesome to watch addison up there on stage doing her routine! jimmy and i were so proud. not to be dramatic, but it was slightly surreal sitting in the audience watching our first daughter perform in her first real recital. it was one of those "wow, look how far we've come" moments. and i think addison may have caught the dancing/performing bug too because she loved being on stage, she loved the idea of a crowd watching and she did great out there! and afterwards she kept saying how much fun she had... which was a great thing to hear! so, hopefully, we'll continue with this and someday i can compare photos of her first recital with all her many other recital photos! :)
This is before the dress rehearsal.. with her stage makeup on. To be perfectly honest, it felt a little weird for me to be putting on makeup on my 4 year old. I am slightly uncomfortable with it. I didn't want her to look too pagaent-y. It kind of freaks me out. But I tried not to overdo it and keep it subtle and after seeing the other little girls, I felt a little better... :/

We are not allowed to take photos or video at the actual recital, but i took a few at the dress rehearsal....

Day of the recital....

Striking a pose!
